Windsor's Hometown Initiative Promoting Prosperity In Town
WHIPPIT = GOOD!
Windsor can be your playground; your home; your friend.

Welcome Home!

    Many people in our great country can get lost in the shuffle of our larger cities, where a person can feel like just another number.  Crime is often high and so are prices.  Windsor offers an alternative.  It typifies the "small town atmosphere".  It is a town where "everybody knows everybody", an idea that many will find comfort in.  Prices are low and so is crime.  We may not have a symphony or a national sports team, but drive-by-shootings are pretty rare, and even though we are definitely "small-town", we're not exactly "out in the sticks" either.
      Windsor is home to over 3000 honest, hard-working, friendly folks with many more in the outlying areas, and we would invite you to make yourself at home, whether you are considering a move to the area, or just a visit.  There are many employment, entertainment, and shopping opportunities here in town, and our central location expands those opportunities with just a short drive.
    Housing is very affordable in Windsor, and the City proper offers public utilities, cable, and sanitation. DSL is offered through the local phone company to the city and a portion of the outlying area.  The Historical Society operates a museum.  Local civic organizations sponsor public events just about every month.  There is a local hardware store, lumber yard, furniture store, pharmacy, and grocery, along with many local shops and restaurants.
With the Katy Trail running through town, you can bike or hike all the way to St. Louis, MO.  The Rock Island Trail is under construction, and will join the Katy right here in Windsor.  This will “complete” the Katy from St. Louis to Kansas City.  We are also lucky to have our portion of the Katy trail designated as Equestrian, so it’s great for horseback riding.
    A short drive south will take you to Truman Lake, a premier fishing and hunting destination within our state.  A short drive north will take you to Whiteman AFB, home of the world famous Stealth Bomber.  Windsor is within forty minutes of four county seats, Clinton, Sedalia, Warrensburg, and Warsaw, with Sedalia hosting the annual Missouri State Fair in August.   You can run for supplies or entertainment and still come home to our cozy little town.  If you like the bright lights of the big city, but only for  a little while,  Colombia, Kansas City, and Springfield are a little over an hour away.  Just right for a day trip.
